What is laser labioplasty and why is it needed?
Labioplasty is a type of intimate plastic surgery that is aimed at the correction of the labia by changing their size and shape. Most often performed plastic small labia. But sometimes truncation of the labia majora is also required.
- Labia minora represent folds consisting of mucous tissue and epithelium. Normally, they are inside the labia majora.
- The labia majora are two large skin folds, which consist of adipose tissue and have a protective function and maintain a constant temperature in the female genitals.
There are no medical indications for laser labioplasty. But it allows you to make the external appearance of the labia more aesthetic. This is most often necessary if a woman is not satisfied with the size of her labia, their asymmetry, appearance.
Stretching and hypertrophy of the labia, their sagging, hyperpigmentation can occur due to various factors, for example, a sharp weight loss, a strong stretching of the labia during labor, age-related changes, hyperandrogeny (excess male hormones), dermatitis, urinary incontinence or others, as a rule, hormonal disorders.
Allocate hypertrophy of the small labia of the first and second degree.
- Light - the first degree of hypertrophy - is characterized by the exit of the labia minora beyond the borders of large ones for a length of
1-3 cm. - Second degree hypertrophy is characterized by a protrusion beyond the limits of the labia majora more than 3 centimeters. Such a structure often causes discomfort when walking, playing sports, sexual contacts.
Hypertrophy of the labia majora is rare, but may also cause some discomfort, such as excessive sweating of the genitals.
Laser labioplasty eliminates the effects of mechanical damage, burns of the labia, deformation due to wearing a piercing. Laser plastics of the labia minora can increase the sensitivity of the genital organs by exposing erogenous zones.
The procedure for conducting plastic lips of the labia
Laser surgery on the labia does not affect the ability to have children and does not harm future pregnancies. Correction of the genital lips with a laser is usually performed in the first days after menstruation.
Before a laser laser procedure, you should visit a plastic surgeon, gynecologist, general practitioner, and, if necessary, the attending physician.
The patient and the aesthetic surgeon discuss the scope and location of the intervention, the truncation line, the future result of the operation, plan the course of the operation.
The patient is also interviewed to ensure that she is ready for future changes.
You must pass the following tests:
- urine and blood tests;
- vaginal smear on flora;
- blood for RW, AIDS, syphilis, hepatitis B and C; blood clotting test.
Attention
An important step in preparing for surgery is a meeting with an anesthesiologist. He fills in the anesthesia card, consults on various types of anesthesia and, together with the patient, selects the appropriate type of anesthesia.
On the day of the operation, consent to anesthesia and surgery is signed.
Laser correction of the vulva is carried out under local depilatation (anesthetic ointment and local injection) or intravenous anesthesia. In different clinics, this procedure takes from 20 minutes to one hour. The time spent on the operation depends on the doctor, equipment and complexity of the operation. Enlarged or asymmetric areas are dissected with a laser.
There are two techniques of excision of excess tissue with a laser labioplasty: linear and wedge-shaped.
- When linear plastic removes unnecessarily protruding parts of the labia minora. In this case, the natural folded structure, which is characteristic of the labia minora, is lost.
- The wedge technique involves removing the wedge-shaped parts of the fabric and stitching wounds with self-absorbable sutures. At the same time, the initial pigmentation and folded structure are preserved.
Two basic principles of resection of the genital lips:
- preservation of sensitivity;
- preservation of protective function, that is, it is impossible to dissect the labia minora until complete removal.
The advantage of the labia plastic surgery with a laser is that the incision line is as accurate as possible, and the laser also has coagulation properties, that is, it immediately “seals” the vessels and the operation is bloodless. Laser correction of the genital lips does not damage the nerve endings, which is very important for maintaining the sensitivity of the genitals. With the laser correction method it is impossible to infect the infection, since the laser beam is sterile.
In some cases, suturing in the intervention area is required. Such stitches are applied with self-absorbable threads, which do not need to be removed later.
Important
Laser recovery after labioplasty is minimal and does not require hospitalization. After a few hours you can already leave the clinic. Complications after such an operation are very rare. Scars, as a rule, does not remain. After the operation, a course of antibiotics is prescribed; in addition, it is necessary to treat the correction site with antiseptic solutions.
Subject to all recommendations of the doctor, the rehabilitation period is not more than 10 days. Edema after intervention may persist for up to two weeks. Full tissue regeneration occurs in
