China plastic surgeons were able to grow an ear on his arm

According to the website Hi-news.ru it became known that Chinese plastic surgery has moved forward again. At this time, specialists of the special department of the Kunming Clinic for microsurgical developments volunteered to help the person injured in a car accident: the patient lost an ear as a result of the disaster.

To create a new ear, university professor Sian Jiaotong decided. Guo Shuzhzhun, a professor at this university, proposed an action plan for ear reconstruction. First, a piece of costal cartilage was taken from the patient, which became the material for a new ear. Ear model printed on a modern medical 3D-printer. The resulting preform was embedded in the stretched skin of the patient's forearm. Now the Chinese surgeons are waiting for the ear to grow on the arm so that it can be removed and inserted into the proper place of the head.

It should be noted that for Chinese specialists, this procedure is not new. With the help of a 3D printer, blood vessels identical to human vessels were previously recreated. Experiments on rodents are continuing, so that in the future any such organ could be “printed” on such printers.
