Breast reconstruction Austrian scientists from the Vienna Medical University ( Medical University of Vienna) have developed a new method of reconstructive breast reconstruction after the removal of a cancer gland. A detailed description of the breast augmentation method can be found on the website of the educational institution.

Tens of thousands of women from all over the world suffer from breast cancer. In Austria alone, approximately five thousand cases of breast oncology are diagnosed each year. 4 out of 5 women perform partial or full mastectomy - removal of the breast.

The new technique will help women to return the external breast and recover faster after surgery. The method developed by plastic surgeon Edwin Turkof and his team is based on fat autotransplantation. Adipose tissue is taken from a patient from a suitable site and transferred to the area of the mammary gland with the help of very thin horsetails. The procedure takes about an hour. For a complete reconstruction will need to go from 3 to 4 sessions.

In order for the anchoring and growth of new tissues to occur successfully, a sufficient amount of plasma containing a large number of platelets is necessary. Experts have solved this issue using the apparatus for plasmapheresis. First, the device secrete platelets, and then the remaining blood components are added to the concentrate. Moreover, such a plasma can be stored for a long time, which means it can be used for all subsequent sessions.
